The Australian Car Wash Association (ACWA) recently highlighted important wage and superannuation updates following the Fair Work Commission's 2025 Annual Wage Review Decision, confirming a 3.5% increase to the National Minimum Wage and all Modern Award classifications. These changes will affect most employers from 1 July 2025.

Key Changes, 1 July 2025:

  • National Minimum Wage: $948.00/week

  • New Hourly Rate:
    • $24.95 (permanent employees)
    • $31.19 (casual employees)

  • Compulsory Superannuation Guarantee: increasing from 11.5% to 12%

For Car Wash Operators:

The Vehicle Repair, Services and Retail Award 2020 covers most car wash staff. Due to structural complexities, the final wage tables for this Award are still pending and expected to be in the coming weeks.

What You Should Know:

  • These changes apply from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2025.

  • Employers paying above-award rates may offset the increase if specific criteria are met.

  • Businesses operating under enterprise agreements (EAs) should ensure base rates remain compliant with the Fair Work Act
